Located in the Yunnan province, in the People's Republic of China (PRC), the city of Kunming is the region's capital. With a population of more than one million inhabitants, Kunming stands to the north of the vast and spreading Lake Dian.
Those flying into the area will find Wujiaba International Airport (KMG) sited on the city's south-eastern outskirts.

The city of Kunming enjoys an elevated situation, standing on the top of a scenic plateau and edged by a mountainous landscape on three of its sides. Home to a large number of prominent universities and colleges, the city's main educational institutions include the Yunnan University, which is home to over 20,000 students and is best known for its excellent school of law.
Kunming is a growing city and plans are afoot for a new airport, which will rival China's biggest. The greater metropolitan region has a population of around four million residents and comprises four main urban areas. The Wuhua region is a particularly affluent part of the city and contains a number of eye-catching buildings, including the skyscraper housing the local government's main offices.
